This expedition is fast becoming one of the most popular ways to experience Diving Truk Lagoon!
Serious dive enthusiasts no longer want to be “led by the nose” by dive guides who limit depth, dive times and penetration opportunities to the less experienced diver, thus minimizing most people’s dive satisfaction. Not only have we eliminated many of the equipment problems associated with technical diving at Truk Lagoon, but also, with a little planning and organization, we have matched the right people on the right boats. That way, if you want to do a 4 hour run time, you can do it!
We do all our diving through Blue Lagoon Dive and stay at the Blue Lagoon Resort. We work very closely with them so you can enjoy extended dive times on these world class wrecks. So, if you are a diver who wants to get more out of your diving, you will feel right at home here.
With a maximum of 6 people per boat and 1 boat per wreck, we carefully place people on boats that are conducive to their level of training and experience (so if you are an experienced recreational diver, you will not be assigned to a technical diver). and have to wait hours for them to surface!!!!. – They will have their own boat and focus on deeper, less accessible wrecks for longer bottom times) It is this approach to detail that we pride ourselves on.
The Blue Lagoon Resort is located on the southern tip of the island, approximately 7 km from the main town center. The newly renovated resort is set among 14 acres of palm-shaded gardens. 54 rooms and 2 suites, each with private bath, IDD phones, TV, balcony or terrace, are built in low impact 2-story blocks, located along a white sandy beach overlooking the historic Truk Lagoon. There is also free Internet access from the reception and restaurant areas. There are also telephones in all rooms. You can buy a phone card and call home. Additionally you have a backup generator for times when the city power goes out, so no worries about charging batteries for cameras, flashlights, etc.
In addition to diving, the resort offers sea kayak rentals, fishing and boat tours, a restaurant and a selection of land tours in and around the Weno bar. A gift store caters to everyday items you may have left at home! The restaurant offers the largest variety of Western, local and Asian cuisine on trucks, with seafood, of course, being a specialty – you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the menu!
Passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the date of entry. Active travel and DAN dive insurance is a must. Make sure all your dive equipment is fully operational and in good condition. Be sure to give your equipment a full maintenance service if necessary before the expedition.
Plan carefully to minimize your waste and trash. Whenever possible, choose rechargeable batteries and avoid bringing things like disposable razors, plastic bags, plastic water bottles, etc. We will be in some of the most pristine environments on the planet and it is our responsibility to keep it that way.
